Sometimes the same lo-fi beats on Spotify can get boring and old. Sometimes we just need something new to muffle the voices in our heads that are telling us not to study. I get it! I’ve been there too many times. Studying in silence can sometimes be detrimental to productivity. (Well, for me anyway!) My study playlist ranges from lo-fi to classical to even hard rock! I never seem to know what I will be in the mood for on a given day or study session. So, here’s a list of songs and artists that I’ve been loving and keep me going.
1) Tom Misch
I wanted to put this artist first because he has been my most recent favorite! His music is a mix between jazz and hip-hop styles. Ironically, as a classically trained musician, I honestly don’t find myself enjoying much jazz, but something about Tom Misch is so fun and freeing. Check him out! I found him one day because John Mayer did something with him. Tom’s music ranges from calming beats without lyrics to catchy tunes and collaborations.
2) John Mayer
Simply put, John Mayer will always have my heart. Some reason he never gets old. He has SO much music out there, and it ranges from up beat to sad, and to just super chill. I find that he usually has something to fit my mood, but appropriate for studying at the same time. If you haven’t given him a thorough listen, definitely give it a shot. I have found that some of my favorites by John Mayer are actually the ones that aren’t the most popular. You won’t regret adding John Mayer to your study playlist!
3) Still Woozy
This artist is pretty popular, but he only has a handful of songs out! With over 4 million monthly listeners on Spotify, Still Woozy is easy to fall for. His wife even creates his cover art! On Spotify, most of his songs are actually just singles, but there’s plenty to get you in a great mood. His music is great to listen to before a really stressful exam.
4) Rain Sounds and Pink Noise
Okay, bear with me! This isn’t meant to put you to sleep. I find it really helpful to have a bit of filler noise in the background while I’m studying. I don’t turn it up loud, but I have it loud enough that it helps keep my mind focused! Personally, I love rain sounds for both studying and sleeping. Explore which sounds you prefer for studying!
5) Classical Favorites
I’m a classical violinist at heart, so of course I added some classical music to my study playlist. I love listening to orchestral music, soundtracks to movies, piano pieces, and more. Chopin and Dvorak are some of my favorites and are pretty recognizable. I am in love with all things classical, so I hope you learn to enjoy it, too!
