Picking out practical winter office outfits can be difficult, especially when you are at a new job. Even further, finding outfits as a student intern can be even more difficult. Who am I kidding, waking up in the morning and putting on clothes is difficult no matter where you’re heading.
I just started a new internship in a law firm where I go to school! I work around 15 hours a week, so I only go to the office twice a week on the days I am not in class. However, a typical workweek at an office job is about 5 days. So, to show a real work week, I documented 5 realistic outfits I actually wore to my internship!
I go to school where it snows, so my outfits are typically practical for the winter weather (not pictured, my puffer coat). My office also allows jeans on Fridays!
Here is my realistic week of practical winter office outfits!

This outfit says it all!
Statement coats are so fun in the winter and are great for the office and even dinner dates.

I love a good statement sweater or jacket because you can use it for SO many occasions. I wore this to work a few times already, but I do plan on wearing it to a family Christmas party soon. Personally, I think it looks best with simple black underneath and some simple gold jewelry.
I bought this sweater on sale in store this summer, but you can still get it on sale online!
The loafers I’m wearing in the last photo are from Steve Madden! I originally bought them at an outlet, but you can find them online, too. On one of the days I wore the sweater, I did not wear ‘fancy’ shoes because the ice was too slippery. So, boots it was!

Another statement sweater here, but this one was thrifted! I love a good office sweater.

This type blazer is great because you can wear a casual or formal shirt underneath and mix it up with jeans or slacks. I am always cold, so I love adding blazers to my office wardrobe. Luckily, this one was about $25 from Burlington.

As you can tell, I love incorporating the same simple layers to other outfits. Having simple pieces to mix in with your other pieces will make it easier to mix and match. Even though I don’t have much money as a student to spend on fancy outfits, I can definitely make the most out of my options. It can actually be more fun this way!
Abercrombie no longer offers the patterned shirt I am wearing here, but I found a similar collared shirt you could use to replicate the look. Collared shirts are great staples to have in your closet no matter how you wear them. Abercrombie always has a great holiday sale, too!
No matter what anyone says, skinny jeans are great with any outfit.
