Let’s be honest, it is hard to resist that anxious feeling before a long weekend away from the office. Even those who love and enjoy their work can get antsy for some time off. Whether you are staying home or leaving town, you deserve some proper rest and rejuvenation before heading back to work.
What comes to mind when you think of Las Vegas? You are probably picturing dazzling lights, showgirls, and bustling casinos. However, there’s a hidden gem just a short drive from the Las Vegas Strip that offers a completely different vacation experience – Lake Las Vegas. Nestled in the Mojave Desert, this picturesque oasis provides the perfect backdrop for a relaxing and rejuvenating long weekend getaway.
This summer, I enjoyed some time away from work at the Westin Lake Las Vegas Resort & Spa. When you’re ready for some time out of town, Lake Las Vegas is the perfect destination for your next long weekend getaway.
Oasis Away from the Strip
Escape the hustle and bustle of the Las Vegas Strip and immerse yourself in the oasis that is Lake Las Vegas. This secluded paradise is centered around a pristine, 320-acre lake with lush landscapes and stunning desert vistas.
Whether you’re lounging by the water’s edge at one of the resorts, taking a leisurely stroll, or engaging in water activities like kayaking and paddle-boarding, you’ll find that Lake Las Vegas offers a refreshing contrast to the energetic atmosphere of the Las Vegas strip.
Luxury Accommodations
Lake Las Vegas is home to a range of luxurious accommodations that cater to every traveler’s needs. The two major accommodation options are the Westin and the Hilton. There are some other condo rentals, but these two are the easiest to book and the most reviewed options. I would highly recommend staying at either the Westin or Hilton for your first trip to Lake Las Vegas.
Staying at the Westin or Hilton gives you the full resort experience. Both resorts have multiple dining options, resort pools, full spas, fitness centers, lobby bars, room service, breakfast packages, and gorgeous lake-side views. I stayed at the Hilton a couple years ago, and this summer, I tried out the Westin. Honestly, I think both offer equally great experiences.
I think the Hilton is a great option because it is close the the Village, which hosts Lake Las Vegas Water Sports, shops, restaurants, and regular events. However, I really enjoyed the pool at the Westin. The Westin location is also more secluded (which I prefer), but it is still only a 3 minute drive from the Village. The Westin has enough restaurants and things to do that I felt like we didn’t have to leave if I chose not to, but we could easily do so if we wanted to.
The Hilton Lake Las Vegas Resort & Spa
I stayed at the Hilton Lake Las Vegas Resort & Spa about three or four years ago. I really enjoyed my stay there at the time! It was a short trip (one night), but I still had a great experience. However, it was during COVID. I would like to go back again some time to enjoy what they normally have to offer.
The Westin Lake Las Vegas Resort & Spa
Here is a round-up of my experience at the Westin Lake Las Vegas Resort & Spa this summer!
My boyfriend and I stayed at the Westin this summer, which is a 5 minute drive from The Village. We really enjoyed our stay! Westin has several restaurants, a lobby bar, a poolside bar, several shops, and a small convenience market equipped with a large coffee bar.
This summer in particular, the Westin offered a great deal where guests can receive a $100 food credit and a half-day cabana rental with a booking of three nights or more. We had no regrets booking three nights – it was a much needed vacation for the two of us!
The resort pool complex at the Westin was my favorite part of our trip. Guests can choose from two pools (the lower and upper pools), a hot tub, or the beach. Better yet, there is even a water slide!
Las Vegas is really hot in the summer, but the Westin is well-equipped with shade and strong air-conditioning for the heat.
Overall, we really enjoyed our time in Lake Las Vegas at the Westin this summer! This was the perfect long weekend getaway.
Outdoor Recreation
For outdoor enthusiasts, Lake Las Vegas is a playground of adventure. Explore miles of hiking and biking trails that wind through the scenic desert terrain, offering breathtaking panoramas and a chance to connect with nature.
The lake itself is a hub of activity, inviting visitors to partake in fishing, boating, and lakeside picnics. With a diverse range of activities available, you can tailor your weekend to suit your interests and level of adventure.
Embark on a trip around the lake on Lake Las Vegas’ luxury yacht! Guests can reserve the yacht for private events or buy tickets to exciting social events, like the mimosa cruise or the New Years Eve cruise, both during the day and evening.
Lastly, Lake Las Vegas is the perfect place for anyone who enjoys golfing, or just a beautiful golf course for that matter. Choose from multiple courses and golf experiences to create the perfect day on your vacation in Lake Las Vegas.
Charming Village Atmosphere
The heart of Lake Las Vegas is its charming Village, a quaint and picturesque area that exudes a relaxed Mediterranean vibe. Stroll through cobblestone streets lined with boutiques, social spots, and an array of dining options. The Village often hosts live entertainment and events, providing a unique blend of culture and leisure.
I visited two restaurants and a few shops in the Village this summer.
Mrs. Coco Cafe
We stopped by Mrs. Coco Cafe on one of our last days during our vacation this summer. If you love capturing memories, then this is the cafe for you. Mrs. Coco offers picture-worthy drinks, treats, and entrées. If you have a birthday or bachelorette party coming up, they offer worth-while group reservation packages.
Although the atmosphere was not my boyfriend’s cup of tea, he was really impressed by the food! Better yet, the staff was extremely welcoming and kind to us. Stop in for lunch during your next trip!
Luna Rossa
Dinner at Luna Rossa was my favorite meal on our trip. It is a family-run Italian restaurant that offers great food, drinks, and atmosphere. We were seated and served really quickly for a busy Friday night. I was really impressed by the wine selections. We shared a Caprese pizza and LOVED it. I definitely recommend this restaurant for your next trip to Lake Las Vegas.
In Conclusion…
When planning your next long weekend getaway, look outside the lights of the Las Vegas Strip towards the tranquility of Lake Las Vegas. With its serene lake, luxurious accommodations, outdoor adventure options, charming village, and regular events, this hidden oasis provides a worthwhile experience for relaxation seekers and adventure enthusiasts alike. Whether you’re looking to unwind by the water’s edge or you’re a thrill-seeker, Lake Las Vegas is sure to be an escape that will leave you refreshed and rejuvenated.
