1) Earn It!: Know Your Value and Grow Your Career, in Your 20s and Beyond, by Mika Brzezinski with Daniela Pierre-Bravo
This book is a great inspirational read for anyone in their 20s and working to grow a career. Written by women with the woman in mind, this book is great for someone that is looking for advice for starting their career. Overall, I think every young women needs a little guidance and motivation as she embarks on her career.
2) Lean In: Women, Work, and the Will to Lead, by Sheryl Sandberg
Lean In is one of my favorite books because it showcases the struggles that women go through in the professional world. I love this book because it offers everyday solutions to these issues that women face, but it also urges the entire community to join in on fighting these issues. It encourages women to feel more empowered and stand up for their abilities. It asks companies and organizations to make changes within the workplace.
3) Tribe of Mentors: Short Life Advice from the Best in the World, by Timothy Ferriss
Tim Ferriss interviewed tons of people for this book in order to bring various types of life advice to his readers. Honestly, I am impressed at the content and effort that went into it! It’s also a fairly large one. This is one of my favorite inspirational books because it is organized by each person he has interviewed. You can read as many sections as you’d like because each section is full of advice and inspiration. I love reading this book before bed. And lastly, Tim Ferriss has tons of other books and a great website!
4) Permission to Screw Up: How I Learned to Lead by Doing (Almost) Everything Wrong, by Kristen Hadeed
This book is written by a woman that started her own cleaning company while still in college! She describes how her failures have led to more success than she could have ever imagined. For example, all of her employees walked out during an important job. She explains how she powered through the difficult time and found a solution. Lastly, I was able to listen to Kristen Hadeed speak at my university just last year!
5) Gmorning, Gnight!: Little Pep Talks for Me & You, by Lin-Manuel Miranda
Just like the Tribe of Mentors, this book is great for little nuggets of motivation and ‘pep-talks’. This book will put a smile on your face!
