This post is all about the fantastic wineries to visit in Spokane, Washington!
My favorite thing about Washington is the amount of wineries to visit. Eastern Washington boasts the most ideal climate, especially hot summers and cool nights, and soil conditions in the world for growing grapes. These weather conditions contribute to the rich flavors and complexity of Washington wines, making them some of the best in the world.
The second largest city in Washington, Spokane is a unique city with loads of history, beautiful sites to see, and wines to taste. Wineries in and around Spokane have direct access to some of the highest quality grapes in the world. They are able to take advantage of the exceptional grape growing conditions in the region and make fantastic wines.
Spokane is a special place to enjoy the Washington wine scene, an industry that grows more and more everyday. The city is home to numerous wineries, each with its own unique style and personality. Visitors can explore the wine scene by taking a tour of the local wineries or visiting the tasting rooms in downtown Spokane. There are many ways to enjoy the Washington wine scene while enjoying the unique charm of Spokane.
Here are 5 fantastic wineries to visit in Spokane, Washington!
*The photos and videos on this page are my own*
1) Arbor Crest Wine Cellars
The views from this winery are definitely worth the drive from Downtown Spokane! I love visiting wineries and tasting rooms when I visit a new place, and the state of Washington is filled with them! Washington does not receive the credit it deserves for its wine scene, particularly Eastern Washington.
The winery is situated high on the hillside of a historic estate, surrounded by sweeping views of the Spokane River. Arbor Crest has earned a reputation for producing award-winning wines since their establishment in 1982.
Arbor Crest Wine Cellars offers tastings and casual bites you can enjoy during your visit. The property also offers a great place for events like weddings. This is one of the most beautiful wineries I have visited!
2) Barrister Winery
Barrister Winery is located in Downtown Spokane, started by local attorneys, and has been producing amazing wines since 2001. This winery produces a diverse selection of wines, many of which are award-winning. The wine-making facility, cellars, and tasting room are located in a beautifully restored 100-year-old brick building.
I was lucky enough to go on a tour of the winery where my group was taken down into the wine cellars. Barrister is specially-known for their train-shaken wines because every time a train goes by above the cellar, the barrels vibrate slightly and the wine is gently shaken!
In addition to wine tastings, Barrister Winery also hosts a variety of events throughout the year, including dinners and live music performances. This is also a great location to hold weddings and private events because of their aesthetic inside and outside hosting spaces. Barrister Winery is a must-visit destination for any wine enthusiast visiting the Pacific Northwest.
3) Liberty Lake Wine Cellars
Liberty Lake Wine Cellars is on the outskirts of Spokane Valley, a quick 20 minute drive from Downtown Spokane. I had the privilege of meeting the owners, Mark and Sarah, the other weekend. They gave our group a wonderful tour of their facility and let us sample a large selection of their wines.
Usually when I go for a wine tasting, there are one or two wines that just don’t sit well with me. During this tasting, however, I liked every single one of the wines we tried! They specialize in red wines, which is my wine of choice when I am not drinking Moscato.
Liberty Lake Wine Cellars has won numerous high accolades for their wines. They sure deserve all of the acknowledgement, both for their hard work and their amazing wines!
If you would like to try their wines, you can choose 5 1oz pours for $10! The tasting fee is waived with a bottle purchase and tasting fees are included with wine club memberships.
